Pocket-friendly Healthy Eats in Town

This list is here to debunk 2 common myths:
1) Healthy food in Singapore is always expensive.
2) Food in town (Orchard area) is also always expensive.

Truth is, you can get super tasty and healthy treats while shopping in Orchard even with just $10 in your wallet! Let’s get eating!

HAAKON

One will find it hard to miss this pretty cafe with cozy wooden furniture, right in the middle of the Basement 2 level of the mall. Do try their Classic Açaí Bowl ($7.90) –  topped with HAAKON’s home made granola, coconut flakes and fresh fruits, and a parfait of Scandinavian skyr yoghurt and chia seeds.

For us, the parfait takes the spotlight with only 0.5% in fat content, skyr is one of the healthiest yoghurts you can find. Its mild sourness also acts as a palate cleanser, so you’ll be finishing  the entire bowl in record time.

Yonehachi

Think of the Okawa rice served here as the offspring of Chinese bak chang and Italian risotto – sticky, umami-loaded, and immensely filling. For the perfect meal, we recommend the Salmon Okowa Rice Set ($7.80). Sprinkled with salmon flakes, it’s sure to keep you full through the day without having to fight the post-lunch sleeping-monster.
